St. George's Independent Schools (SGIS) has campuses in Collierville, Germantown, and Memphis, Tennessee. The school was affiliated with the Episcopal Church until 2004. The school is private; tuition depends on which campus the child attends, and what grade they are in.
The Germantown campus was built in 1959, and is the oldest of the three campuses. It serves grades prekindergarten through fifth grade.
The Memphis campus was the next to be founded, in 2001. It (as of 9 March 2006) serves grades prekindergarten through second grade.
The Collierville campus was founded in 2002, and serves grades six through 12. The Collierville campus has two wings, which divide the school into middle school (grades 6-8), and upper school (grades 9-12). The school is notable because, unlike many in the area, it runs on a trimester schedule, unlike the regular semester schedule. Another notable quality of the school is that every student owns a laptop.
Both the Collierville and Memphis campus's mascot is the gryphon; the Germantown campus's is the dragon.
[edit] Official Hymn
God our Father make us caring,
Seeking truth and always sharing;
Be the difference - in our choices,
In our school days at St. George's.
May your spirit always guide us.
In the days that are before us;
Fill our hearts with joy and laughter
At St. George's - and ever after.
Bless our school in its endeavor
To ensure that all we do;
Will reflect its teaching ever
Oh St. George's we won't forget you.
