St. John's Cathedral, Hong Kong

St. John's Cathedral (Chinese: 聖約翰座堂; pinyin: Shèng Yuēhàn Zuòtáng) (in full, Cathedral Church of St. John the Evangelist) is a cathedral of the Anglican Communion, located in Garden Road, Hong Kong.
The cathedral's weekly services are conducted mainly in English, Chinese (Mandarin) and Tagalog. Distinguished organists of the cathedral include : Mr. C.F.A. Sangster in 1860, Mrs. Cecilia Kwok from 1954 - 1991 and Mr. David Cooper from 1991 - the present.
The cathedral is also famous for being sited on one of the few pieces of freehold land in Hong Kong. All other privately owned land in Hong Kong have been and are still held under leasehold of 999, 99 or 75 or other terms of years from the Government (of course, in the past, the Crown).

Built in 1847, St. John's is a cathedral of the Anglican Communion. It is dedicated to St. John the Evangelist.
During World War II the Japanese occupiers turned the cathedral into a social club for Japanese[1], but it reverted to its original role as a cathedral after the war.
Today it is the seat of the Archbishop and Primate of The Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui (香港聖公會) (Hong Kong's Anglican (Episcopal) Church). It houses three beautiful stained glass windows, as well as a collection of British military colours, standards and guidons.

Visitors can get to Garden Road by Taking bus no. 12A from the Central Bus Terminal to Garden Road. They can also take the MTR to the Central Station and then exit from Exit K. After that, they have to walk through HSBC, across Queen’s Road and up steps to Battery Path to the Cathedral.

The opening hours are from 7:00am to 6:00pm daily
