[edit] Summary
This is a scan from a 35mm transparency which I took in 1984 in Stamford, Lincolnshire, England. It shows the Brazenose Knocker on a doorway which is now part of Stamford School. The knocker is a replica of the one originally brought to Stamford in 1333 by students who had left Brasenose College, Oxford, after a dispute, and set up a rival college in Stamford for some years until ordered to return by King Edward IV. Note the Oxford spelling of Brasenose is with an "s"; Stamford with a "z".
This scan is in the Public Domain (however, I retain ownership and copyright of the original transparency and any higher-resolution scans derived from it).
If this image is used outside Wikipedia a photographer's credit (Simon Garbutt) would be much appreciated! SiGarb 22:45, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
