Rationale for fair use in Kara Thrace
I (User:Caper13) believe that the use of this image to illustrate the image of the Battlestar Galactica Character of Kara Thrace in this article is fair use under U.S. copyright law because:
- It is used solely for the purpose of illustrating the subject of the article
- These articles would be deficient without an illustration of this person
- No freely licensed alternative is available for this purpose
- The image required is one of the character Kara Thrace, not the actress who plays her. As such, the only source of photos of "the character" is likely to be promotional photos and free use images are not likely to exist.
- The image is of low resolution and so does not diminish the copyright holder's ability to profit from images of this artwork
- In relation to the previous item, the image use in the article is consistent with the purposes intended by the copyright holder, which is to publicise the character of Kara Thrace and the TV Show Battlestar Galactica
- The material must contributes significantly to the article as no other image of Kata Thrace is in the article.Caper13 22:46, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
