STAS is an abbreviation for Short Term Air Supply.
STAS Units are used primarily by the Military as an emergency means of respiration should one come into contact with water and need to survive for a short period underwater.
STAS units are commonplace in Helicopters and other forms of Aircraft and usually resemble a miniature SCUBA air cylinder.
STAS is an abbreviation for the Roman Catholic Seminary in Winona, Minnesota -- St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary. The name was adopted during the Christmas of 2003 by seminarians Michael Sestak and Paul Robinson. Two years after www.stas.org hit the world-wide web, the URL was stolen by a Russian hacker, "Stanislav Khramov." For over one year, the Seminary lost its URL, and renamed itself www.sspxseminary.org. In August of 2006, the Seminary reacquired the domain name.
Stas (short for Stanislav) is a Russian name.
