Standish family (Passions)

The Standish family is a fictional family on the NBC soap opera Passions. The women of the Standish family supposedly have the potential to access mystical powers though not of all of them have done so. As a result of this the Standish family is hated by Harmony's town witch, Tabitha Lenox

Besides Charity and Faith all of the other characters who are members of the Standish family are members of the Bennett family.

[edit] First Generation

• Grace Standish. Twin sister of Faith. Grace developed amnesia roughly 25 years ago after being saved from a fire in Boston set by Tabitha Lenox. Grace was saved from the fire by Sam Bennett, her future husband. Grace came to Harmony with Sam and the two began a family. Together they had three children: Noah, Kay and Jessica. A man named David Hastings came to town claiming Grace was his wife before her amnesia and that they had a son, John Hastings. This was eventually discovered to be a deception masterminded by Ivy Winthrop.

• Faith Standish. Twin sister of Grace. Mother of Charity. Faith was something of a religious nut who had a seemingly irrational fear that evil forces were after her and her daughter. Faith's suspicions were confirmed when Tabitha set her house on fire, unfortunately Faith was killed in the fire. Faith's ghost has returned a couple times to advise Charity and to threaten Tabitha.

• Sam Bennett. Grace's husband and father of her 3 children. Sam also has a son named Ethan Winthrop with Ivy Winthrop. Ivy's schemes to break up Sam and Grace's marriage have recently been exposed which ended her engagement to Sam. Grace and Sam appear to be working towards a reconciliation.

• Charity Standish. Faith's only daughter. Charity came to live with Grace's family after the fire that killed her mother. Charity and her cousin Kay were both in love with Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald. Tabitha's greatest fear is that Charity and Miguel having sex will unleash a force of good on the world that will destroy her and all evil on earth. Charity left town after an agreement with death to protect her cousin and Miguel's daughter Maria. An imposter hired by Fox Crane has recently returned to Harmony. It is unknow if the real Charity will ever return. The identity of Charity's father has never been revealed on the show or even hinted at.

• Noah Bennett is the eldest child and only son of Sam and Grace Bennett. When the show began in 1999, Noah was a sophomore in college, which he attended off-screen. In 2003, Noah dropped out of graduate school, and forged letters from the Dean and grade transcripts in order to make his father believe that he was still in school. In reality, he was squatting in hotels and gambling in Las Vegas, where he met Fancy Crane. After returning to Harmony and facing his father's wrath, Noah eventually came to love Fancy, though plots by Alistair have separated the couple once more.

• Kathleen Elizabeth Bennett is the eldest daughter of Sam and Grace Bennett. Kay had had a crush on best friend Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald ever since she was a little girl. Kay's hopes were dashed, however, when her cousin, Charity Standish, came to town, and Miguel fell for her instead. Kay tried everything to separate the two, resorting to dark magic, but nothing worked, and, after Miguel left town in 2004, became engaged to Fox Crane. Kay is the mother of Maria Lopez-Fitzgerald (July 21, 2003) as a result of her mystical rape of Miguel.

• Jessica Bennett is the youngest daughter (and child) of Sam and Grace Bennett. Jessica was always the good child, trying to deter Kay from her evil schemes. After her mother left with David Hastings, however, Jessica lashed out, dressing trashily and hanging out at seedy clubs. At one such club, she was raped, and began cutting herself to cope with her emotional pain. She eventually began dating Spike, the owner of one of the clubs that she frequented, unaware that Spike was just toying with her. Her father and brothers both attempted to put Spike out of business by trashing and burning down his clubs, and, in retaliation, Spike convinced Jessica to leave home and live with him, as well as becoming a prostitute. While high on drugs and prostituting herself, however, Jessica is believed to have lashed out violently at her johns, as four of her customers have wound up dead after sleeping with her (though one of them was actually killed by Spike). Jessica has since left prostitution, though she recently married Spike in June of 2006.

• Maria Ivy Lopez-Fitzgerald is the product of Kay's mystical rape of Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald. Born on July 28, 2003, Maria was premature, and came close to dying several times. Once she made it past the first six months, however, Maria was fine. Maria currently lives with her mother at Tabitha Lenox's house.
