Starglider
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Starglider is a 3D space simulator/flight simulator video game released in 1986 by Rainbird for the Amiga, Atari ST, Amstrad CPC and ZX Spectrum home computer systems, and on IBM-compatible PCs. It was packaged with a sci-fi novella by James Follett, describing the background story of the game. It was followed in 1988 by the sequel, Starglider 2.
The Amstrad version was released as disc only which was very rare for the time and was looked upon as one of the most sophisticated 8-bit game releases ever made with very fast fluid vector graphics.
Starglider was developed by Argonaut Software, led by programmer Jez San.
[edit] Get Fresh
A special version of Starglider was used for the Get Mucky segment of UK TV show Get Fresh, where two children were pitted against each other in a game of either Starglider on the Atari ST, or Bitmap Brothers title Xenon on the Commodore Amiga. The loser was gunged.
