From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Known also as a steel chop saw. These portable hand operated machine are capable of cutting small sections of steel and other materials. They typically use composite friction disk blades to abrasively cut through the steel. The disks are consumable items as they wear away during the course of the work. The blade size is usually 355mm x 3.0mm with varying hole diameters to suit different manufacturer's shaft sizes. Larger saws have 410mm dia. blades.

[edit] Usage
The saw is set up on a firm base and the material is clamped in position. Long lengths of material need their ends supporting. As the cut is made the blade abrades it's way through the material.

- Follow the correct mounting procedure labeled on the face of the disks.
- The disks are labeled, "low speed machines only". Use these disks rated at 4200rpm only in this type of machine.
