Steve Bégin (born June 14, 1978 in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada) is a French-Canadian professional hockey forward.
Bégin currently plays for the National Hockey League's Montreal Canadiens. He was drafted 40th overall, in the second round, by the Calgary Flames in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. He was traded from the Flames with Chris Drury to the Buffalo Sabres for Rhett Warrener and Steven Reinprecht. Prior to playing a game for Buffalo, Bégin was claimed off waivers by the Montreal Canadiens on October 3, 2003. While not known as a prolific scorer, Bégin has become a fan favourite in Montreal for his strong work ethic and gritty play. He signed a three-year deal with Montreal on June 5, 2006, worth approximately one-million per season.
