Steven Barthelme

Steven Barthelme (born 1947) is the author of numerous short stories and essays and a professor at the University of Southern Mississippi. His published works include And He Tells the Little Horse the Whole Story and (with brother Frederick Barthelme) Double Down: Reflections on Gambling and Loss. He won Pushcart Prizes in 1993 and 2005, and in 2004 he won the Texas Institute of Letters Short Story Award for a story published in Yale Review. Stylisticly, Barthelme is a realist and a modernist.
