Born into a lower-middleclass family to father Glen Kippel and mother Carolyn Kippel, Steven was the middle child with two older brothers - Timothy Kippel (1978) and Jonathan Kippel (1981) - a younger sister, Jennifer Kippel (1986), and brother, Jeremy Kippel (1988). He spent the first ten years of his life in the San Joaquin Valley of California before the family relocated to the Coachella Valley in southern California.
He is the creator/owner of the visionary business Destroy:Ideas which is focused on philanthropic business practices. The vision is to place importance on the client instead of on the profit margin. He is also partner in Blackhart Productions and The 7-Six-0.

Steven briefly attended kindergarten at Gracey (Leontine) Elementary School. He was quickly placed in first grade when the teachers realized he was advancing much more quickly than the curriculum. At the end of the school year he was removed from the public school system for more advanced and individual schooling at home. He remained in the home school (under the title Faith Christian Academy) through high-school. He never graduated formally but opted instead for the California High School Proficiency Exam from the Palm Springs Unified School District.

Steven has only taken a few units at College of the Desert.

Steven took desktop publishing and print shop technical schooling through the Riverside County Regional Occupation Program where he graduated at the top of his class with high accolades from his instructor, Robert Andrade.

At the regional SkillsUSA/VICA competition, Steven received gold medal in desktop publishing.
At the state championship for SkillsUSA/VICA, he received bronze medal in desktop publishing.

On 25 September 2004, Steven Kippel was married to Nicole Sampson.
