Stover Canal
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Stover Canal is located in Devon, England. Built by James Templer, it was opened in 1792. At the beginning of the 1820s, the Haytor Granite Tramway was built and connected to the canal. It passed into the ownership of the GWR in 1877, but gradually went into decline and was formally closed in the early 1940s.
Today it is totally derelict, but the Stover Canal Society is aiming to have it restored and re-opened to navigation.
