War memorial in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England.
The plaques around the base of this cross bear the names of the town's dead from the Great War (1914–1918). A nearby wall lists those who died in the Second World War (1939–1945). Both memorials are situated in a garden near to Holy Trinity Church and the River Avon.
War memorials similar to this one can be found in most towns and villages in England and many other European countries. In this picture, wreaths of poppies can be seen. These are laid annually as part of ceremonies held across Britain to mark Remembrance Sunday or Armistice Day.
