Sub-surface scattering
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sub-Surface Scattering is a term coined by PDI Dreamworks with the new invention for the Shrek 2 Movie.
It entails scattering light below the surface of an object (or character) to give a more diffusive (and thus, realistic) feel to the light.
Dreamworks spent considerable time and money on Subsurface scattering techniques in conjunction with HP.
