Summer of My German Soldier is a 1978 film based on a novel by Bette Green of the same name.
The film is about a Jewish girl named Patty Bergen who lives in Jenkinsville, Arkansas. She has a house cleaner, Ruth, a father who does not respect her, a mother who does not seem to care about Patty, and a younger sister. She soon realizes her home town is turning into a campsite for Nazis. She then meets a runaway from the P.O.W., a frightened young Nazi named Anton. He soon comes to respect her in a way her parents never will, and she hides him in her garage until her father finds out. She then talks to a person from the FBI who is trying to find out why and how she hid Anton. Soon after, Anton runs away and ends up dying; Patty is sentenced to jail for the rest of her life.
