Sunny Side of the Street
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Sunny Side of the Street" was a single by The Pogues, released from their fifth album Hell's Ditch in 1991. The single, composed by Shane MacGowan and Jem Finer, is an up-tempo celebration of an unrepentant libertine - a common theme for frontman and lyricist Macgowan. The Single failed to chart in the UK, but managed to enter the US Modern Rock Chart at Number 23, becoming the Bands second - yet last - to do so. . As of March 2007, is was being used in a television commercial for Cadillac - an ironic choice given the lyrics audible in the commercial:
"So I saw that train
And I got on it
With a heartful of hate
And a lust for vomit
Now Im walking on the sunnyside of the street"
