[edit] a new library on practical knowledge
Good evening Sundar
I was in Madurai last month and I read an article about you in the press. I thought you might be interested by the project we launched earlier this year: www.howtopedia.org. It is a collaborative platform for practical knowledge and simple technologies, i.e. technologies that require no complex machine, that are easily explainable and usable by individuals or small communities for a sustainable and ecological future.
The idea is to create an empowering documentation for individuals and organisations who are trying to set up projects.
We are starting to collaborate with small organisations in India, Africa and South America. Maybe do you have ideas how to let the community grow around this project!
Hoping that you will find some interest in the project,
All the best for yours,

[edit] Madras Tamil and Dappan koothu
Sundar, I request you to keep an eye on these two articles. User:Sarvagnya has tagged both with OR, notability and/or AfD tags. I am personally not that worried if dappankuthu doesn't survive AfD, since I can always recreate it when better references become available. But Madras Tamil is a totally serious article and took a lot of collaboration to come up to its usefulness. I have removed his tags and explained on article talk page. I would appreciate it if you could keep an eye on these two articles for a few days. I have been very busy in real life with work, and haven't checked my watchlist for months. I found out about the two articles quite by accident today and cleaned up the best I could. I am a little concerned that it was the same user who hit two closely related articles with OR and AfD tags within a short interval: please watch for targeted attacks on related pages. -- Brhaspati\talk/contribs 03:32, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Tamil language article
Hi Sundar,
I just observed that somebody has nominated the Tamil article for FAR. I have had some misgivings about the article myself for some time now. But nothing that you or Arvind wouldnt have been able to address. I've been meaning to ping you or Arvind about it for some time now, but either I've been busy with other things or you and Arvind have been inactive. Not to mention, I am a hopeless procrastinator myself and that has contributed too.
I particularly have some misgivings about some prose which the three of us added after a long discussion. I'm not too concerned about the content there, but my concern is that the prose is very confusing. Infact, I had also mentioned it once during the course of our discussions. You then went ahead and made the changes and I somehow, never got around to take another look with a fresh pair of eyes.
Now this FAR seems to have precipitated things for us and I thought I should ping you before I made any statement on that FAR talk page. And then, I'd imagine, the editor who has nominated it for FAR would have his own questions to pose too. I guess its time for you and Arvind to come out of hibernation for a while :). btw, can you ping arvind if you find him anywhere. Last time I checked, he's a little hard to find. :) Sarvagnya 09:16, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Tamil language FAR
Tamil language is in featured article review.--Dwaipayan (talk) 07:00, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Tamil language has been nominated for a featured article review. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to featured quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, articles are moved onto the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article from featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Reviewers' concerns are here. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:51, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Sundar, I'd like to do my bit with the dashes. But I am not sure, I understand it fully. Do I just need to replace all the "-"(the minus sign on the keyboard) in the article with the "–" in the Insert section below(under the edit summmary box)? Is that all that it is? [edit] Bharathanatyam
Hello Sundar, I would like you to see this article and check the edit wars. Also, please tell me what is the procedure to deal with 'verify' tags. A user has inserted two verify tags along with OR and disputed tags. Please guide me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Praveen pillay (talk • contribs) 15:15, 2 April 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Hi
Been a long while. I thought I'd say hi. --Chandrachoodan Gopalakrishnan
- Great! I see you already are at work - on the Tamil language page. I made some suggestions for the Chennai page, as well as offered photos. Do take a look, see if they are ok. --Chandrachoodan Gopalakrishnan
[edit] Devadasi
There is a conflict brewing between two users who look to be Tamil. They seem to be arguing about Vellala and Mudaliars, and which caste gives up Devadasis. Since you are actually from Tamil Nadu, I was hoping you would be able to comprehend what these two are arguing about. A summary can be found at User_talk:Bakasuprman#Summary_of_Devadasi_arguments and the big showdown is at Talk:Devadasi.Bakaman 01:51, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
