Support our troops
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Support our troops" is a political slogan commonly used in the United States and in Canada in reference to the United States Military and the Royal Canadian Forces (Army, Air & Navy). It is sometimes seen as over-generalizing complex issues, as for example an individual may support members in the military of a state, but not the foreign policy that state may be currently engaged in, while others believe that it is a valid expression of patriotism. The slogan has been used very frequently during the 2003 Iraq war and the slogan has been imprinted onto yellow ribbons in the form of bumper stickers which have been sold. Millions of these ribbons have been sold throughout the United States.
It is seen by some as a guilty over-reaction to the way troops were treated by civilians following the Vietnam War.[citation needed]
