Sven Alkalaj

Sven Alkalaj is the current Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is also the first Jewish member of the country's government following independence.
Alkalaj, who is of Sephardic ethnicity, was born in Sarajevo on November 11, 1948. Following a career in engineering and investment in Bosnia, the Middle East and Thailand, Alkalaj became Bosnia's wartime ambassador to the United States, a post on which he remained until 2000. Member of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
