Sven Lindqvist

Sven Lindqvist (born April 28, 1932) is a Swedish author and professor.
Sven Lindqvist was born in Stockholm. Since 1955, he has published 30 books in various genres, mostly non-fiction: essays, documentary prose, travel writing and reportages. He is known for his works on Africa, China and Latin America. His later works focus on the subjects of European imperialism, colonialism, racism and war, often combining his travel experiences with scholarly analysis. He also writes in the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter.
His books have been translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and several other languages.
Sven Lindqvist holds a PhD in History of literature from Stockholm University and a honorary doctorate from Uppsala University. Since 1986, he is married to the economist Agneta Stark.
