Sweat drop
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In manga and anime, a sweat drop is a common visual convention in which a character is drawn with one or more prominent beads of sweat on their brow or forehead (or floating above the hair on characters whose back is turned). The convention may be puzzling to readers unfamiliar with manga and anime, as the drop has become associated with a broad spectrum of emotions, including embarrassment, exasperation, confusion, and shock, not all of which are necessarily considered to be sweat-inducing under normal conditions. It is also a common reaction to another characters' bad pun or joke.
In some parts of Indonesia, this expression is sometimes talked upon as a slang. It is pronounced "SWT" (pronunciated: es way tay) to close friends as indication of lame joke or hearing something that does not make sense. It may be caused by popularity of Ragnarok Online online game where the player can type "/swt" to display a sweat drop.
