From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
SYD01 is a UHF Citizens band repeater located in Hurstville, A suburb of Sydney, NSW, Australia. It is owned and operated by long time controversal and opinionated CB operator and enthusiast, Jason Kennedy, who is also known as JD. JD's voice can be heard on the SYD01 voice identification every 15 minutes.
Jason Kennedy has been pivotal in CB radio in Sydney, as he has been the driving force behind several other well known repeaters, such as VMG3, located at Appin and later sold to Nathan Grundy and VMC4 at Port Kembla. At one point it time it was said he held a monopoly on CB repeater licenses in Sydney as he owned 3 repeaters all within 100KM of each other at a time when no other licenses were available.
SYD01 provides coverage to the entire Sydney basin, with contacts reported from as far south as Wollongong, west as far as Jenolan Caves, and up to the Central Coast. The repeater is used by CB hobbyists, four wheel drivers, and truck drivers alike. The repeater is located in the Hurstville CBD, atop of 12-14 Ormonde Parade, Hurstville.
