Symphonic Game Music Concert
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The annual European Symphonic Game Music Concert-series (also called GC Concerts) started in 2003 (08 / 20). The first historic concert took place at the famous concert hall Gewandhaus zu Leipzig in Germany, performed by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra under direction of Andy Brick. This sold-out event appeared to be the first symphonic video game music concert outside of Japan ever.
The second concert took place in 2004 (08 / 18), conducted by Andy Brick, performed by the FILMharmonic Orchestra Prague. Once again, the event was sold-out, this time three weeks before the actual concert.
The third concert under the direction of Andy Brick took place in 2005 (08 / 17) and sold-out in less than three days.
The fourth concert in 2006 (08 / 23) was sold out within hours. For the first time, the concert featured a choir and the pipe organ in the Gewandhaus concert hall.
The fifth concert has been announced recently. It is supposed to take place in 2007 (08 / 22).
The European Symphonic Game Music Concerts are the official opening ceremonies of Europe's biggest trading fair for video games, the GC Games Convention.
Well-known game music composers such as Nobuo Uematsu, Rob Hubbard, Michiru Yamane, Akira Yamaoka, Yuzo Koshiro, Chris Huelsbeck, Jason Hayes, Olof Gustafsson, Richard Jacques, Christopher Lennertz, Gustaf Grefberg, Allister Brimble and many others attended the events.
