Coburg

Coburg is a German city in the north of Franconia. Its population is about 45,000 and it is 48.3 km² large. Its mayor is Norbert Kastner. Coburg is a European city that has two universities of applied sciences.

Coburg is about 100 km in the north of Nürnberg, 90 km in the east of Würzburg and 90 km in the south of Erfurt. Erfurt, Nürnberg and Würzburg are the next big cities. Coburg is an Circle Free city.

Coburg was often capital of many duchies: Sachsen-Coburg-Eisenach, Sachsen-Coburg-Meiningen, Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld, Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha, and Sachsen-Coburg. It was the capital of the Freistaat Coburg. Until 1918 Coburg was an monarchy-state, from 1918-1920 it was an Freistaat, but it gets together with Bavaria 1920. Coburg is over 950 years old
