Joseph Smith, Jr. was born on December 23rd, 1805 in Sharon, Vermont. When he was 14 years old he went into the forest to pray. He claims that when he was praying, he saw God and Jesus Christ come to him and speak to him. There were many people who did not believe his story.

On April 6, 1830 he started the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is often called the Mormon Church.
There were many people who hated him because of the things he said and did. In 1844, he was murdered by a mob of men.
