Nupedia

Like Wikipedia, Nupedia was a website with encyclopedia pages. It was founded in 2000 by Jimbo Wales. Larry Sanger was its editor-in-chief.
Unlike Wikipedia, only the people who worked on it could change the articles, all of which went through peer review. This therefore made it more tasking to create articles, and soon become redundant by Jimbo Wales's new project, Wikipedia which created more interest.
Twenty-four articles made it through the Nupedia system, with another seventy-four in progress, before the site went out of operation in September 2003.
