Wikipedia talk:Simple English GFDL
From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I don't get this bit from section 8 so I have not simplified it;
If a section in the Document is Entitled "Acknowledgements", "Dedications", or "History", the requirement (section 4) to Preserve its Title (section 1) will typically require changing the actual title.
- Yeah, that one is certainly an English teacher's nightmare but what it refers to is that when translating leaving a title in English would generally make it unreadable by it's intended audience. Thus in a sense perserving the title requires you to change the title. I'm rewriting it as Section titles such as "Acknowledgements", "Dedications", or "History" may be translated to words with the same meaning in the language the rest of the document has been translated to. [edit] Progress
A list of which parts have been started
- Section 0
- Section 2
- Section 4 (done)
- Section 8 (done)
- Section 9
- Section 10
All of these still need further work. The other sections are not even started.
Hahaha. Brilliant work Ang. ;) - Stevertigo
[edit] disclaimer
This probably needs a disclaimer to say "This version is not legally binding, and is only an explanation of the license in Simple English that has been written by a non-lawyer. Any legal advice that pertains to this license must come from a practicing lawyer in the jurisdiction of interest, who has read the original Full English version of the license." 142
- I don't think that's necessary. The current disclaimer at the top of the page is the one recommended at the official site. No need to make it more complicated. The aim is to make it simpler. :) Angela], 16 October, 00:22 (UTC)
[edit] general comments
It is good. I am not sure if I am allowed to hack directly or if I should make minor comments here.
I would like to change 9 as follows:
9. STOPPING YOUR RIGHTS You must not copy, change, sublicense, or give away the Document except as expressly provided for under this License. If you do try to do this, it breaks the conditions for you using the document, and will stop the rights the licence gives you. If other people have not broken the licence, they still have rights.

We should make the sentences even more simple. Also, the names of the parts should be translated, so that people can understand what they mean. - 66.213.200.250 18:20, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
