Victor Pestoff

Victor Alexis Pestoff, född 24 januari 1941 i USA, svensk statsvetare.
Pestoff genomgick sin grundutbildning i Long Beach, California och tog sin kandidatexamen 1963. Han kom därefter till Europa och studerade bl.a. i Stockholm, Paris och Oslo innan han lade fram sin doktorsavhandlning, Voluntary associations and Nordic party systems: a study of overlapping memberships and cross-pressures in Finland, Norway and Sweden,vid Stockholms universitet 1977. Åren därefter undervisade och forskade han vid universitetet. Han var med och byggde upp Center of Public Administration Studies vid universitetet i S:t Petersburg och har även haft långtgående samarbete med universiteten i Helsingfors, Finland och Kanazawa, Japan.
Åren 1996-2002 var han professor i statsvetenskap vid Södertörns högskola och sedan 2002 är han professor vid Mittuniversitetet i Östersund. Hans forskning har främst rört de demokratiska och politiska aspekterna på organisationer inom den sk. tredje sektorn.
