Taksim

For the Istanbul district, see Taksim Square
Taksim (Turkish for "division") was the rallying cry of Turkish Cypriots who supported a partition of the island of Cyprus into Turkish and Greek portions. Supporters of taksim felt partition was the only way to ensure peace and security and to prevent the assimilation of the Turkish population on the island, due to its majority Greek population.
