Tallaght Stadium
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tallaght Stadium is a municipal stadium currently under construction in Tallaght in south-west Dublin, Ireland. It is to be the new stadium for Shamrock Rovers. It will have a capacity for 6,000 (seated eventually) spectators. The stadium's construction has been delayed on many occasions but South Dublin County Council have taken control. It is believed that the stadium may be ready for the start of the 2008 League season.
This stadium may be the Rovers' first permanent home since they left Glenmalure Park in Milltown. South Dublin County Council approved plans to complete the stadium in late November, 2005.
In early 2006, Thomas Davis GAA club sought leave to apply for a judicial review to ensure that the stadium could be used for Gaelic Games as well. The stadium would need to be redesigned to accommodate Gaelic Games. The hearing into leave to apply for the review has been heard and a decision is awaited.
