A Greek language inscription from Herod's Temple, late 1st century BCE. It warns gentiles to refrain from entering the Temple enclosure, on pain of death. This photo, taken in Istanbul, was printed in the 1901-1906 Jewish Encyclopedia, now in the public domain.
