Texas Tower (lighthouse)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Texas Tower is a structure, similar to the Texas Towers used by the United States Air Force, that was used as a platform for a lighthouse. One notable example in the United States was the Buzzards Bay Lighthouse, located in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, and commissioned on November 1, 1961 (it has been extinguished and may be dismantled). A total of six Texas tower lighthouses have been constructed and four survive. All are primarily made of steel. The Ambrose light station one failed, was run down, and has since been replaced.
