Template:Tfd-inline/doc
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This template is used to nominate inline templates for deletion. Templates which include this template, will be added to Category:Templates for deletion.
[edit] Usage
{{tfd-inline|TemplateName|Nomination}}
- TemplateName: Name of the template being marked as a TfD candidate. Due to technical limitations, any spaces in the name of the template should be replaced with underscore ("_") characters.
- Nomination (optional): used when several templates are nominated to point to the consolidated nomination.
This is a variant of {{tfd}}. It should be used to tag TfD candidates that appear inline (as opposed to those that appear above/below the actual article text).
For example, suppose that a template called {{raisins}} outputs the link "dried grapes." Here's how it might appear in an article:
If the standard {{tfd}} tag were to be inserted into the template, the following would result:
Obviously, it's impossible for the reader to identify the deletion candidate.
Using {{tfd-inline|raisins|fruit templates}} instead generates the following result:
- Among her favorite fruits were apples, avocados, bananas, ‹The template raisins has
been proposed for deletion here.› dried grapes, oranges, peaches and pears.
As you can see, the downside is a greater degree of interference with the article's text, so the decision of which tag to use should be made on a case-by-case basis. If the insertion of either template is deemed too detrimental to a large number of articles, it might be advisable to place the notice on the template's talk page instead.
