Thalidomide!! A Musical
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thalidomide!! A Musical is a musical written and composed by Mat Fraser. Fraser and Anna Winslet play all the roles in the show, which premiered at the Battersea Arts Centre's Octoberfest in 2005 and has since played in Cardiff, Bath, Edinburgh and Wolverhampton. The production tells the story of a love affair between a Thalidomide victim (Glyn) and an able-bodied woman (Katie Crawford) attracted by his phocomelia. One Wolverhampton councillor, Malcolm Gwinnett, criticised the show, arguing that, "To exploit people in this way is, frankly, sick", while Fraser said that, "It makes Jerry Springer look tame". Numbers include "Monster Babies" and "It's Hard To Hitch Down Life's Highway With No Thumbs".
