Mistborn: The Final Empire is the second novel by Brandon Sanderson, and the first of the Mistborn trilogy. The unreleased titles in the trilogy include Mistborn: The Well of Ascension and Mistborn: The Hero of Ages, currently scheduled for 2007 and 2008 release (respectively, though the specific release dates are still undetermined).

The main character in Mistborn is Vin, a 16-year-old thief on the streets of Luthadel, the capital city of the Final Empire.
The story follows her life as she comes into her own as one of the Mistborn, people who can use ingested metal particles to enhance their abilities, both mental and physical.
