[edit] Requested move
Beaufort Gazette → The Beaufort Gazette – McClatchy is the parent company - Their listing (see link), which includes the definitive article, seems authoritative Tobogganoggin 03:57, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Discussion
Using the definte article in this case goes against the Wikipedia Manual of Style. It is unnecessary for the purposes of Wikipedia and will only cause headaches in categorization. Yes, in speech one always says "The Beaufort Gazette", just like one says "The ***" for virtually every other newspaper. But every other newspaper is listed without the definite article. --AlexWCovington (talk) 05:10, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- I've performed the merge. Most newspapers do in fact use the definite article: see The New York Times and The Washington Post for examples. —Mets501 (talk) 02:24, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
