Talk:The Cat Who Went to Heaven
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Terrible synopsis of book!
Did the person who wrote this even read Coatsworth's classic children's story? The cat "Good Fortune" dies of a broken heart because his master, the artist, includes a cat in the mural depicting the passing away of the Buddha - but the mural is rejected by the monks of the temple because of this inclusion. The Lord Buddha performs a miracle and Good Fortune finds redemption and resurrection in the mural. The villagers and their animals rejoice at Good Fortune's triumph and the monks learn that the Buddha is Lord of Compassion over all creatures, including cats.69.139.182.222 04:34, 27 March 2007 (UTC)buddmar
[edit] No minister, no church
No where in this book is there mention of a "minister" or a "church". This story takes place in Japan and it involved Buddhist monks and their abbot and a Buddhist Temple. The entry on this beloved Newbury Award winning tale is disgraceful! Buddmar 05:35, 31 March 2007 (UTC)buddmar
