Much as I admire Shaw as a playwright, his music appreciation is bollocks. Did he ever listen to the Ring Cycle by Wagner? Was he deaf? Tone deaf? In love with the sound of his own voice?. Wagner's Ring Cycle is sublime. The pinnacle of opera. Breathtakingly, heartstoppingly and gut wrenchengly supreme. There will be none other to surpass him. Not ever!
