[edit] Give In

I the Give In Poster at FYE. I saw that they will E-Release an EP called Alexa in January. I also saw the Randall Thornberry was listed as part of the band. Who is he? I haven't heard of neither Arianna Kills or General Sherman.

[edit] Penis Butt?

Is it only me or does the random phrase "Penis Butt" exist under their discography? Also, it does not appear able to be edited.66.65.57.234 04:41, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Nevermind, someone edited it. Thanks.66.65.57.234 04:42, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Phil Collins Cover

Not sure where to add it to the article, the Postal Service did a cover of the Phil Collins song, Against All Odds for the soundtrack of Wicker Park (movie). --nixie 14:58, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

It should be made clear in the Discography secton which CD's were released by The Postal Service, and which are covers for other people's LPs/EPs/singles. --alex

http://www.usps.com/communications/news/press/2005/pr05_040.htm is the only mention of the postal service I can find on the USPS website. --ben

could have sworn 'we will become silhouettes' was in a commercial for the honda civic, not the acura nsx. same company, but different car model. anyone back me up on this? Andy 09:35, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

  • Roger that. I'm 100% sure it was the commercial for the Honda Civic model change. (which *did* make it looks more like the Acura RSX, but still...) Fubaz 22:30, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New album?

Does anyone know if The Postal Service ever plans to release a new full-length album?

[edit] guest vocals

Does anybody know specifically which songs Jenny Lewis and Jen Wood sang on?

  • It's Jenny Lewis on We Will Become Silhouettes, for sure. She's in the video, too. Fubaz 22:16, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
  • Jen Wood sings on Nothing Better.
  • Jenny Lewis on The District Sleeps Alone Tonight, Sleeping In, Recycled Air, Clark Gable, We Will Become Silhouettes and Brand New Colony, and Jen Wood on Such Great Heights and Nothing Better Abcdemily 01:11, 5 March 2007 (UTC) abcdemily

[edit] USPS

the link about the USPS selling their CDs is broken--Paraphelion 12:24, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Modified Postal Service?

Hrm, I didn't know the iTMS ever had their music down. I did notice in the iTunes video version most of the SkyWorks logos were blured out.--209.209.140.20 02:29, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Angel Pumping Gas"

Is it appropriate to mention that "Angel Pumping Gas", while almost invariably attributed to The Postal Service, is by Lindsay Pool [1]? The song is not currently mentioned on the page, but all over the internet and on p2p networks everyone seems to think this song is by The Postal Service. --211.28.49.160 01:59, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Genre of Music

There seems to be some confusion on the genre that The Postal Service is to be considered. Long ago, this page only listed IndieRock. I later changed it to Indie Rock/Electro Pop. I now noticed that it says Indietronic / Indie Pop. The Postal Service's website, Myspace, and page on SubPop records all use the same biography that do not list any specific genre. Sources such at MTV Music, however, describe The Postal Service as "electronica-meets-indie rock." MTV The Postal Service So my question is, shouldn't the genre list Indie Rock instead of Indie Pop? If so, there are obvious Pop beats and rythms found within electronic music that can't be ignored. So woulnd't it eventually revert back to the way I had placed it as "Indie Rock/Electro Pop"?

Hey, not sure if posting this here is right, but why is the band linked, and listed as, an emo band?

[edit] Who Wrote Such Great Heights?

This page claims that Iron & Wine wrote the "original" song... yet the Iron & Wine page claims that the Postal Service were the originators. Anyone know the truth? Nekkensj 02:19, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

  • The Postal Service did. I don't have it with me right now, but I'm sure the liner notes in "Give Up" will bear me out.--Hraefen 18:19, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

"all songs programmed by jimmy tamborello (dying songs, bmi), lyrics by benjamin gibbard (fake songs, bmi)"

So yes, The Postal Service did write that song and Iron and Wine's version is the cover.--Chitomcgee 17:37, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Such Great Heights

8 out of 10 Trivia items are about Such Great Heights. Does anyone else think a full article on the song is warranted? It's something of an Indie Pop standard.--EndlessVince 00:38, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wrong song

The song "We Will Become Silhouettes" was used in a commercial for the 2006 Honda Civic.

No, it's not. Check for yourself. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Deaglepwnt (talk • contribs) 2:09, 6 November 2006 (UTC).

  • Right song. Wrong commercial. see this video Try to do a bit more research next time. --kollision 04:49, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Link Added

I just added a link to Ben Gibbard's MOG page, which shows all the music he listens to and has blog posts about a couple of his favorite artists. He just joined MOG and plans to be posting there regularly, so I figured the link would be useful to Postal Service fans. Questions about this, drop me a line... --JessMOG, 11 November 2006

[edit] Videography- The District Sleeps Alone Tonight

It says that there was a video of The District Sleeps Alone Tonight made in (2003) and in (2006), directed by ?. Is there a source that has the director of the (2006) video. Come to think of it, is there a source that has any information about the (2006) video? I have not seen anything about there being a new video of The District Sleeps Alone Tonight. 69.47.216.213 10:00, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New Members in the band?

In the overview it says that there are some additional, new members of the band, but the external link to support this seems rather sketchy....anyone know if this really is true besides www.requestlyrics.com??

[edit] Note about band vs. mail

I wonder if the redirect should be to United States Postal Service instead of to mail. Thoughts? -Mkilly 04:25, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

I agree. I don't see why anyone would search for "The Postal Service" when they're looking for the history of mail as a whole, they'd probably be looking for the USPS. - to tough to die 11:33, 04 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New information on next album

I don't know much about updating Wiki stuff, so I just thought I'd throw this link out there for those who want to put it in there. It's got info on the new album. Apparently they are done with 6 songs and have tons of new equipment to play around with. Link: http://www.vh1.com/news/articles/1553375/20070227/dntel.jhtml camknows

[edit] Death Cap for Cutie Discography

I don't think the Death Cap for Cutie discography should be displayed at the bottom. They do share a band member, but they are not the same band.

[edit] Trivia

shouldn't the trivia about songs be in their their albums (respectfully)? --74.98.128.64 23:51, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
