[edit] Misc
What does it mean that Madonna, Aquilera, and Spears were in "pussycat garb"? Was there any actual association with the group or were they just wearing pin-up outfits? MK2 16:43, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Hey Yall, if you go to Amazon.com, and type in Pussycat Dolls, or PCD, you will find the album cover for their album coming out in September. I think you guys should put that up here, instead of the "Don't Cha" Single CD cover.
- Good call. Done. AriGold 12:36, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Rumors
Official policy Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons states:
- Remove unsourced or poorly sourced controversial material
- Editors should remove any controversial material about living persons that is either unsourced, relies upon sources that do not meet standards specified in Wikipedia:Reliable sources, or is a conjectural interpretation of a source. In cases where the information is derogatory and poorly sourced or unsourced, this kind of edit is an exception to the three-revert rule. These principles apply to biographical material about living persons found anywhere in Wikipedia, including user and talk pages. Administrators may enforce the removal of such material with page protection and blocks, even if they have been editing the article themselves. Editors who re-insert the material may be warned and blocked. See the Wikipedia:Blocking policy and Wikipedia:Libel.
- Administrators encountering biographies that are unsourced and controversial in tone, where there is no NPOV version to revert to, should delete the article without discussion (see WP:CSD criterion G10 for more details).

[edit] Source
Hi. You guys might wanna check out this site. It contains some information about the group. Notice this: our article says the group was created in 1995, but this website states that it was created in 1993, but the first performance took place in 1995. Have we committed a quid-pro-quo, or is the website wrong? May be worth checking. Regards, Redux 04:52, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
- Also, if you want to insert biographies of the members, you can find the information here. Careful not to violate copyrights though, but this kind of information might help the article. Redux 05:06, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] New Layout
Thanks to whoever had the layout cause the singles with the pics and album cover looks great!!
Someone needs to fix 'Sway.' That was their first song, it was already released in 2004. That needs to be put in front of 'Don't Cha.'
[edit] single info
the pussycat dolls released a song and a video for a movie before the release of "Don't cha". I don't remember the name of the movie but it was with Jennifer Lopez, something about dancing... not very old...
Just tought it should be added to the singles area...
"Sway" is the song you're talking about. Most people still consider "Don't Cha" to be the 1st single. 132.208.24.101 23:39, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
- Shouldn't "Sway" be added as first single, as it was the first single? -- Luigi-ish 09:40, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
It doesn't matter what people 'consider' to be their first single, it matter what IS their first single and that would be "Sway", NOT "Don't Cha".
im glad somone else brought this up, im am fed up of people saying that dont cha was their debut single when sway was, its like how people consider crazy in love to be beyonces first single when it was work it out, its only because sway failed to chart in the u.s 'fans' of 'the dolls' are ashamed and want to forget/pretend that it was never released because they hate to admit that their first single was a flop and not a huge hit like dont cha was 81.1.112.20 23:24, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Criticism and Vocalists Sections
I removed the "Criticism" section, which consisted of a single line: The Pussycat Dolls' composer's songs have been continuously criticized for their sexual references, and some critics think that their songs have no meaning. That could be said about 90% of all pop artists. If anyone has anything of substance to add, please feel free to resurrect it.
Also, I find the tone of the "Vocalists" section to be a little odd. Only one member of the group is a regular singer; three of the girls have only sung on one track, a b-side. Given that the group is considered a singing act, this is clearly a significant detail, but this section seems to dismiss the critics as uninformed. What the dill-yo? --Aemilia 01:26, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
The "Vocalists" section and part of the "Repertoire" section were removed. I think they are both valid inclusions and I'll reinstate them. --Design 11:19, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Americocentric
This article has clearly been written by someone that isn't too aware of the world outside America. It needs to be rewritten in a more international tone. violet/riga (t) 14:16, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
- How about a tone other than the typical Euro-elitism snobbiness
[edit] PCD is Gold
http://www.riaa.com/gp/database/search_results.asp
It was just certified Gold in December I doubt it has sold 600,000 copies in a month and a half. Its only gold not platinum someone needs to change it and keep it like that.
On her PCD diary, Nicole Scherzinger confirmed that PCD went platinum.
[edit] Roles of group
It's my understanding (from Allmusic) that only Scherzinger is actually involved in the musical aspects of the group, with the rest of the members pretty much explicitly eye candy/dancers, with no musical involvement at all. I quote Allmusic: Open the booklet for their 2005 debut, PCD, and their artificiality is made clear: the first page reads "All lead and background vocals by Nicole Scherzinger. Should this be made clearer, and Scherzinger's role mentioned earlier in the article? john k 00:19, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
-
- Carmit and Melody also sang in their song Beep.
- Do you have a source on that? Allmusic says the booklet says that all lead and background vocals are by Scherzinger. john k 18:53, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
- The booklet also says: "Additional vocals by Melody Thornton and Carmit Bachar." My friend has the booklet himself, and I read it. Euqinimod 03:30, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- Carmit and Melody also sang in their song Beep.
[edit] complete rewrite needed
As the original author of this article, way back when, I think we need a complete rewrite here. The Pussycat Dolls started as a burlesque dance troop and the original article reflected this. Now they are a pop singing group - the article has evolved to reflect this but the change was so substantial, I think the article would benefit from somebody starting it over from scratch. As an analogy, it would have been like if we had started a Wikipedia article on Ronald Reagan back when he was an actor and then continuously updated it through his subsequent political career - at some point, we should acknowledge we're essentially talking about a different subject than the one we started with. MK2 03:17, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree. A massive revision would be a good idea. john k 04:11, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tainted Love
The cover version recorded by the Pussycat Dolls is a medley "Tainted Love/Where did our love go". The source of this cover is accurately attributed to Soft Cell, as their hit '80s version was a medley of the same two songs. The original individual songs are correctly attributed to Gloria Jones & The Supremes, respectively. A recent edit credited Diana Ross as the original source for "Tainted Love", and removed reference to Soft Cell. I will revert this edit. Design 01:06, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] New Song or Unreleased?
on Last.FM, on the songs list, it's says the Pussycat Dolls have a song called "Fever". [Put title here]- Hill03
- They used to perform this song (the Peggy Lee classic), usually with Carmen Electra singing, back when they were still known as a dance troupe. I don't know if the current incarnation stills performs the song. MK2 02:09, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks!- Hill03
[edit] Vegas Show
Does this article need some clarification about the PCD show in Las Vegas, as a separate entity to the touring group with Nicole Scherzinger? Are they two differnet things? Aren't most of the live guests, like Denise Richards, appearing in Vegas, not with the Scherzinger group? Design 09:30, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
- I remember hearing and reading about the fact that the PCD showgirls are different than the PCD group, although (obviously) they're connected. I just don't know where I heard it from...but it was an official source. SKS2K6 06:13, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nicole leaving??
On Nicole's wikipedia page it says that she is leaving the pussycat dolls after her contractual commitments to the PCD album are up. Is this true or just a rumor? And if it is true who will be taking over lead vocals if nicole leaves the group? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 210.49.194.48 (talk • contribs).
Nicole is not leaving. But she IS releasing a solo album. I fixed her page because she has stated that she will be with them for the next album too. Also, Melody Thornton would probably take over, because she has the second most amount of solos and her voice is heard the second-most in all the songs.
[edit] Salaried employees of Interscope??
On Melody Thornton's wiki page it says that she is a salaried employee of Interscope like the rest of the Pussycat Dolls. what exactly does this mean and how is this different to arrangements that other recording artists usually have with their label? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 210.49.194.48 (talk • contribs).
- A common arrangement is where the recording artist has a contract with the label for their recordings only. The artist would usually have their own management, publisher, lawyers, touring company, merchandise company, etc. quite separate from the label. This means the artist would have potentially more "artistic" control over their business, more "revenue streams" under their control, and focus on their own career. If they are a group, then the membership of the group would commonly be decided by the members themselves.
Since the Dolls are employees then nearly all of the above would be controlled by Interscope, including the ability to hire & fire. The label's focus would probably be on Interscope's profits (short term?) and could possibly conflict with the long term career of the Dolls members. The Spice Girls might make an interesting comparison: they were formed by a manager, whom they later fired, and they went on to control their own affairs, and spawn some solo success. So it's not necessarily all doom for the solo futures of the current Dolls. --Design 10:49, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Past members?
The info box currently lists Eva Longoria and Christina Aguilera as "past members". They are already listed as "guests" towards the end of the article. Guests is probably more accurate; if so, then their names should be removed from the info box. --Design 10:49, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Album Sales via Media Traffic!
okay, in 2005 countdown it states that PCD sold 1.6 million copies, then in the first week of 2006 it says that PCD sold 268,000 copies but u dont add that to the end of year total because that 268,000 copies was already added to the total, so if u still dont understand, first week of 2006 is added to 2005 countdown, I know this because media traffic is updated every friday and the first week of 2006 was actually first shown in the last friday of 2005. if u want to add something to that please do.I always learn from my mistakes!thank u for ur time.
[edit] Discography
I recommend that the detailed discography continue with its own current article, and that the discog. in this article be reduced with less detail. The current table format makes it take up a lot of space. --Design 00:11, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
I propose reducing the discog. by removing the images and some other details (all of which will remain at The Pussycat Dolls discography), unless there is a consensus to the contrary. --Design 12:53, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] User:Candy Baby 1234
Candy Baby 1234 (talk • contribs) and her IP sockpuppets 213.122.125.30 (talk • contribs • WHOIS) and 213.122.65.214 (talk • contribs • WHOIS) (see Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Candy Baby 1234) are continually removing the Pop music genre from this article and several other Pussycat Dolls-related articles. To suggest that this group is not a pop group and purely an R&B group is ridiculous. Does anybody else feel that PCD is not a pop group? --musicpvm 19:00, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Genre
Pussycat Dolls is a Pop Group, however to suggest they are purely pop is also wrong. I agree with different points made by Candy Baby 1234 (talk • contribs) & musicpvm. Pussycat Dolls have very strong R&B/Hip Hop influences, however they also make Pop. Don't Cha has Pop, Hip Hop and R&B influences. Stickwitu is more prominently R&B but is still poppy. Beep is the same. Buttonz is has stronger R&B/Hip Hop[ influences so I believe that is the only song so far that isnt a Pop Song. Wait a Minute and I Dont Need A Man are very Pop-orientated, wheras How Many Times, How Many Lies has stronger R&B influences.
So to sum up, I think R&B, Hip Hop and Pop should be featured in the article.
[edit] 20 million?
The PCD have NOT sold 20 million records ww... there is no way - they have sold a little over 5 million worldwide - NOT 20 MILLiON!
[edit] References
Could some kind editor please format the refs. for this page? --Design 01:47, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Proper Genre.
Three users, me included, seem to be involved in an edit war. One user keeps changing the genre to R&B and Hip Hop, while the other user and I have reverted The Pussycat Dolls' genre back to Pop/R&B/Dance/Hip hop. Technically, their genre is pop, R&B, dance, and also hip hop. They're not just R&B and hip hop. I am willing, however, to go with a consensus on the genre. Acalamari 17:59, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Okay, how about:
19:11 5 February —The preceding unsigned comment was added by JJH1992 (talk • contribs) 19:11, 5 February 2007 (UTC).
- That looks fine. What's the difference between what I said and what you've suggested? Arre you saying that dance should be at the bottom of the genres? That's okay, as long as we can keep all the genres in. Acalamari 19:13, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Christina Applegate
The article currently states:
"1993–2003: Dance troupe beginnings Some sources claim that Robin Antin began exploring the idea of a modern burlesque troupe in 1993 with her friend Linh Le and Christina Applegate (both friends since high school)"
Can someone cite a source for Linh Le? Or is this just a lingering piece of vandalism? Also needs some clarification as to who were friends "since high school"; since Antin was born in 1961 and Applegate in 1971 they were probably not students together. Does the writer mean that Le and Applegate were friends "since high school"? --Design 11:45, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
