The Bedroom Philosopher (real name Justin Heazlewood) is an Australian Comedian/Musician. He was born on June 12, 1980 in Tasmania.
Heazlewood's career as The Bedroom Philosopher began in 2002, when he regularly appeared on Triple J's The Morning Show. He also filmed two pilot episodes of 'The Bedroom Philosopher Show' for the ABC Fly TV, a now defunct digital youth television station. He also secured his first major musical gig, playing support for Bodyjar and The Bumblebeez at Triple J's Unearthed concert that year.
The Bedroom Philosopher has performed in past years at both the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Hobart Comedy Festival, supporting the likes of Lano and Woodley and Adam Spencer at the latter in 2004. His three Melbourne Comedy Festival Shows have included 'Living On The Edge Of My Bed' (2003), 'In Bed With My Doona' (2004), and 'Pyjamarama' (2005). In both 2004, 2005 and 2006, he played at The Falls Festival
The Bedroom Philosopher's debut album, "Living on the Edge of My Bed", featuring tracks which had earlier aired on The Morning Show, was released in 2003. This album was never released completely to retail stores, with copies now only available by mail order.
In 2005, The Bedroom Philosopher released his first retail and studio album, "In Bed With My Doona". This release was taken strongly by Triple J's audience, with the first single "I’m So Postmodern" reaching number 72 in the Hottest 100. The Bedroom Philosopher was the only unsigned, independent artist to make the list in 2005. The film clip of 'I'm So Post Modern' will feature on the Hottest 100 DVD.
The Bedroom Philosopher is also a writer for the Channel 10 Sketch Comedy show The Ronnie Johns Half Hour and has made a number of cameo appearances during the series. In one sketch he is singing "I'm so post modern" when the character Paulie places a guitar in the Bedroom Philosopher's guitar case.
Ben Pobjie is the Bedroom Philosopher's favourite person in the whole wide world.
