The Berserker

The Berserker, part of the Locust race, is an enemy character from the Xbox 360 game Gears of War. The Berserker, which is female, is a dumb, powerful brute. The Berserkers charge at their prey and can kill with a swing of their arms. They have the strength to knock down walls and trees. Berserkers are blind, so they hunt by sound and smell.

The player encounters three Berserkers throughout the campaign.
[edit] Act 1
The Berserker serves as a boss battle at the end of Act 1. After completing a sweep through the House of Commons, the Berserker crashes through the wall. If the player does not move, he or she will be killed. The player must move around the Berserker and make his or her way out of the building. Then, the player will use the Hammer of Dawn weapon to kill the Berserker once outside.

At an unexpected moment in the greenhouse, the Berserker enters and begins to sniff around. If the player makes too much noise, the Berserker will charge. The player must exit the greenhouse, luring the Berserker outside into the open. The player can then kill the Berserker with the Hammer of Dawn.

This Berserker battle may seem like the climax of the game, but the Berserker is later upstaged by General RAAM, the final battle of the game. The player is on a train in the countryside. After the player makes it past the first few train cars, the Berserker can be seen on the back of the train. She charges until she is near the player's position. The player must dodge the Berserker a few times, then make his or her way to a button called the "Coupler Release". This button detatches the train car behind the player. When the Berserker charges, the player must move to the side. The Berserker has too much momentum, so she is sent hurdling off the back of the train to her death. A second method is to destroy the fuel tank on the next to last car with a frag grenade. Doing this, uncouples the car the fuel tank is on.
