The Brothers McMullen is a 1995 US dramatic comedy film directed, written, produced and starring Edward Burns. The film deals with the life of three Irish Catholic brothers from Long Island, New York. The film was shot on weekends over an eight-month period in New York State, USA.

Ed Burns wrote the script for The Brothers McMullen in the spring of 1993 while working as a production assistant for Entertainment Tonight, bringing his own breezy, upbeat New York Irish Catholic perspective to the riddle of piecing together basic ideas and values — love, sex, marriage, religion and family — in the 1990s. The film depicts a few crucial months in the lives of three brothers (all in their late 20s or early 30s) named McMullen. Most of the action takes place in or around a large house in a working class neighborhood on Long Island: this house was Burns's real-life family home.

The original version of the movie, which was shot on 16mm film, cost just $28,000. (This does not include post production costs incurred after the major distribution deal was made, nor the cost of the rights for the Sarah McLachlan song "I Will Remember You" which plays over the end credits). This film marks the debut of two notable leading men: Burns himself as well as Mike McGlone (who plays Burns' younger brother).

The film grossed over ten million dollars at the box office (USA). The film also won the Grand Jury Prize at the 1995 Sundance Film Festival.
