The Charter School
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Charter School is a comprehensive mixed secondary school. The Charter School is situated near Herne Hill, South London and has an age range of 11-18.
Founded as a result of a pressure group in 2000, the new school made use of the buildings formerly occupied by Dulwich High School For Boys, the failing school formerly known as William Penn.[citation needed]
The headteacher is Mr. Chris Bowler and he took up this role in September 2005 from the now retired Pam Bowmaker OBE.
There is a sixth form college at the school and the school was awarded an "Outstanding" mark from Ofsted when they inspected the school in late October 2006.
However, the school received bad GCSE A-C results in 2006-2007.
The majority of students come from Dog Kennil Hill Junior School and Dulwich Hamlet Junior School.
