The Cookbook is a the sixth studio album by American singer-songwriter Missy Elliott, released in the United States on July 5, 2005. The album includes the hit lead single "Lose Control" (which samples "Clear" by Cybotron) featuring Ciara and Fatman Scoop. The second single lifted off of the album, "Teary Eyed", never saw much success, hold a few appearances on TRL, peaking at number forty-seven on the U.S. R&B chart. The third single, "We Run This," was released in 2006 while its video was filmed in mid-December of 2005.
The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard chart, but ended up being a sales bust,managing to sell well over 1,000,000 copies in the U.S and 2,000,000 copies world wide. Nonetheless, it received positive reviews and was nominated at the Grammy Awards of 2006 for Best Rap Album, though it lost to Kanye West's Late Registration. As of 2006 The Cookbook has received its certification of platinum status.
The Cookbook is notable for the fact that Timbaland, who produced the vast majority of material on Elliott's past albums, only produces two tracks here.
