The Country Bears is a 2002 live-action film produced by Walt Disney Pictures, based loosely on the Disney attraction Country Bear Jamboree. It was Disney's second movie based on a ride or attraction, released July 26, 2002.
It tells the story of a young bear named Beary (voiced by Haley Joel Osment), setting off to Country Bear Hall and finds that it's about to be torn down. Beary and Country Bears' manager Henry set off on a road trip to reunite the band and hold a benefit concert to save the theater.
The film was a box office flop; budgeted at US$35 million, it grossed only $16,990,825 in the US and an additional $1,021,272 overseas. The film was released to home video on December 17, 2002.
Ironically, Country Bear Jamboree closed at Disneyland shortly before the movie premiered to make way for the Winnie the Pooh dark ride.
