"The Current" is a song by Blue Man Group, released as the first single from their 2003 album The Complex and featuring the guest vocals of Gavin Rossdale of Bush. The song deals with urban and occupational isolation, two key themes from the album. The isolation theme is furthered by the setting; the song takes place underground, and as the founders of Blue Man write, "This song takes place in the subterranean portion of the urban complex. It’s the place where all the phone lines, electrical wires, and Internet connections snake out of sight to their destinations. We wanted to capture the modern paradox of having access to millions of people through electrical current but still being cut off from any real human contact.". The song was also on the soundtrack for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
