The Dearne High School

The Dearne High School is a non-denominational, mixed sex, secondary school in the Dearne Valley, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England. The school was previously known as Dearneside Secondary Modern and then Dearneside Comprehensive School until its merger with Thurnscoe Comprehensive School to create The Dearne High School.
It caters mainly for pupils from the Goldthorpe, Thurnscoe and Bolton-on-Dearne areas of Barnsley. It currently has around 1300 pupils aged 11-16 years.
The school was inspected by OFSTED in January 2006. In the report the overall effectiveness of the school, achievement and standards, personal development and well-being and quality of provision of teaching and learning were all graded as satisfactory. The quality of provision of curriculum and other activities and care and guidance were both graded as good. The overall effectiveness of the school's leadership and management was graded as good.
