During their four year run on the Houston punk rock scene, the Degenerates played 1977 style punk fresh from the suburbs. Wade Driver and Kenny Coffman wrote most of the songs. Tom Kiersted joined the lineup on bass and backing vocals before the first performance. David Garrison never performed publicly with the band and left prior to the group playing its first real gig; the Westheimer Art Festival. Wade Driver was the youngest performer on the Houston scene, playing with the Degenerates at The Island, The Omni, and elsewhere at 14. The Degenerates were all under 18 at the time of their first public performance.
Their EP was produced in 1981 at recording studio in Houston. In 1982, Tom Kiersted left the band and was replaced on bass by Tom Atkinson.
After the demise of the Degenerates, Coffman and Driver joined Jeff Cordes in a band called the Other which lasted until 1984.
Wade Driver, later of several bands including the Hickoids, still performs music and is living near Austin, Texas.
Degenerate songs include: Fallout, Skid Row Kid, Radio Anarchy, Scungy Girl, Troubled Man, Civilized Destruction, Rage, Stop Fascist HPD, Surburban Life, to name only a few.
- - Garrison left the group early on before their first performance or release of the EP
