The Design Association (DA) accredits design businesses and in-house design teams based on a set of design and business criteria that have been researched and identified as markers of best practice and key factors in commissioning design services.
Accreditation is underpinned by membership which can only be maintained by undertaking a yearly accreditation review.

[edit] DA Diploma in Design Business Management
In October 2006, The Design Association launched the DA Diploma in Design Business Management.
The DA Diploma in Design Business Management will comprise twelve targeted training modules, which will focusing on topics related to the design industry.
These modules will be aimed at those:
- who wish to enhance and develop their own design business skills
- who want to develop their existing design business
- who are looking to advance their career opportunities within their organisation
- who are progressing through the DA Accreditation programme
- designers seeking to understand their clients’ business model
Delegates will have the option to complete the DA Diploma over a twelve or twenty-four month period, and CSD & DA members will receive preferential rates and can earn CPD points.
Delegates may select from a wide range of module start dates and examinations will be held annually in October, with the first exam due to take place in October 2007, following the commencement of the first modules in October 2006.
Modules may be taken as a whole programme, or individually without taking the exam.
Specialist case studies, breakout groups and exercises will facilitate learning, and the majority of the training will take place in the CSD’s training suite in Central London.
